ConnActive partner: Dontyne Gears
Dontyne Gears Ltd was founded by Dr. Michael Fish who, as co-founder of Dontyne Systems, has already successfully positioned himself in the market. Located in the northern English city of Newcastle, the company focuses on the prototyping and manufacture of modern gear solutions.
What is the core focus of your company?
Dontyne Gears designs, manufactures and tests gear systems for industry and the automotive sector. Our objective is to support customers and partners throughout the whole gear development process using, among other things, our own, purpose-developed suite of software.
What makes your company special?
We offer our customers fast, flexible service and through comprehensive analysis we enable our partners in industry to implement small but important innovative projects in a cost-efficient way.
What does co-creation mean for you and your company?
Co-creation is the future and will become increasingly important. During the intensive exchanges we had in this project we again witnessed the vital role played by gear systems in all vehicles, including those with electric powertrains.
What did your company contribute to ConnActive eDrive?
For the ConnActive eDrive we developed a particularly compact and lightweight transmission with a ratio of 12:1. The gears are made of metal powder, which can have an additional positive effect on weight, gear geometry and NVH characteristics.
In the future, electric motors will …
without doubt be an essential component of all vehicles. You don’t have to be an expert in this field to recognize that the importance of e-mobility is rapidly increasing, and that this will remain the case in the future.
